Firewood prices, county by county

Map of every U.S. county, shaded by our estimated price for a full cord of firewood, from $250 to $500. Each state's page lists the same prices county by county.
Each county is shaded by our price for one full cord. Every price comes from our model of climate and how many homes heat with wood, checked against state surveys where we have them. So the map shows the model's pattern, not prices we saw in each county.

Price per cord

  • Under $350 74 counties
  • $350–$374 482 counties
  • $375–$399 1,014 counties
  • $400–$424 864 counties
  • $425–$449 433 counties
  • $450 and up 277 counties

How this works

  1. We model every U.S. county from its climate and how many homes there heat with wood.
  2. We anchor that model to real prices where we have them: state surveys, seller websites, and prices readers report.
  3. We tell you how sure we are. Every county page shows a price range and says what evidence it rests on.

Every price is for one full cord: a stack 4 feet high, 4 feet deep, and 8 feet long (128 cubic feet). Wood type, dryness, and delivery distance still move the price, so get a quote or two.
